The Monte San Salvatore transmitter is the most important FM transmitter in Ticino . It is located on Monte San Salvatore , 901 meters above sea level. He uses an 80 meter high, free-standing steel lattice tower that was erected in 1957 as the antenna carrier.
The Monte San Salvatore transmitter went into operation for the first time on November 29, 1958 and initially broadcast the television program and the second radio program on VHF of the RSI . On October 7, 1960, a second VHF transmitter followed for the first program. Benidorm
There are several masts on the hill adjacent to the famous Benidorm Cross which is to the north of the town. It looks as though most of the transmissions are for fm and digital radio. I am doing more research on this. I visited this on a warm day in March 2019. The road up to it is steep but, the view from the site is magnificent. Nearby and a little higher is the famous Benidorm Cross which is well worth a visit.
Saleve - Swiss/ France
The Salève is a mountain of the French Prealps located in the departement of Haute-Savoie. It is also called the "Balcony of Geneva". The view from the top over the city of Geneva is spectacular.
Radio and TV signals for France and Switzerland are broadcast from the main and auxiliary towers on the site. The main cylindrical tower is also used for microwave and other signals both for France and Switzerland. Historically this site has been used for a number of TV and Radio developments such as the French 819 system and digital standards such as DVB T 2.
There are a number of masts on the summit of the mountain which rises to over 1300 metres.

Rigi Kulm - Luzern
Not far from Luzern where we are staying for a few days is the impressive Mount Rigi. On the top is the most powerful transmitter in Switzerland broadcasting a large number of TV and Radio Channels.
It stands on the highest part of the mountain known as Rigi-Kulm and as you can see in the picture it is mounted on a circular building.
Rigi is also known as the "Queen of the Mountains." The highest peak is the Rigi-Kulm at 1,797.5 meters, with Rigi-Hochflue, Dossen and Rotstock and Rigi-Scheidegg being slightly less high. The mountain is easily accessible by public transportation. It offers many activities such as skiing or sledging in the winter, and hiking in the summer.
